Inside the app

Who is it for?
- Parents of children in kindergarten through grade 5 facing CogAT screening for a gifted or advanced program.
- Families who want practice in all three CogAT batteries, not only the picture puzzles.
- Parents of young children who cannot read yet: questions can be read aloud and listened to in English.
- Spanish-speaking parents: the app interface is in English and Spanish.
What does it do?
Three ways to think, nine skills
- Verbal: picture analogies, sentence completion, picture or verbal classification.
- Quantitative: number analogies, number puzzles, number series.
- Nonverbal: figure matrices, paper folding, figure classification.
- Practice follows your child’s grade: clear pictures for early learners, more involved reasoning for older children.
A clearer start for young learners
- Illustrations of familiar objects that are easy to recognize.
- Read prompts together, listen to English questions and enlarge a figure.
- Choose a grade, tap a category and start, without a complicated setup.
Learn from every answer
- An explanation after each practice question.
- Completed sessions with the original questions and answers, and mistakes to try again.
- Diagrams and stable answer labels that keep the focus on the reasoning.
Test-day confidence and reports
- A full mock test that brings all three reasoning categories into one focused session; move back, skip or mark a question for review.
- Unfinished sessions are saved.
- A parent report by the nine skills at the selected grade, for 7, 30 or 90 days.
- Optional parent-managed sign-in to sync progress.
What makes it different?
All nine CogAT subtests
Riverside Insights lists nine subtests in three batteries. The app practices each of them, and the report is organized by the same nine skills.
Made for the picture-based primary levels
CogAT levels for kindergarten to grade 2 are picture-based. The app reads English questions aloud and uses large illustrations so a pre-reader can work alone.
No account to start
Choose a grade and practice. Sign-in is optional and only syncs progress between devices.
Honest results
The report describes practice in the app. It is not an official CogAT score, and the app says so on the result screen.
