Free self-check · TrueColors: Color Analysis
What color season am I?
Your color season comes from three things: undertone (warm or cool), depth (light or deep) and contrast (soft or clear). Answer the eight questions below and this page places you on the same 12-season wheel TrueColors uses, naming your nearest season and two close ones. It is a quick self-check; the app reads your selfie instead.

Answer in daylight, without makeup if you can. Tap one option per question. Nothing you choose leaves your browser.

How is the result worked out?
Each answer scores −1, 0 or +1: the first option of every question is −1 and the last is +1. The four undertone answers are averaged into a warmth score, the two depth answers into a depth score and the two contrast answers into a clarity score, each between −1 and +1. Together they are a point in three dimensions.
TrueColors places each of the twelve seasons at a fixed point in that same space, laid out like the seasonal color wheel: the True seasons at the warm and cool extremes, Light and Deep at the ends of the depth axis, Bright and Soft at the ends of clarity. Your result is the season whose point is nearest to yours, and the next two nearest are shown as close alternatives. These are the app's own coordinates, copied from its classifier:
| Season | Warmth | Depth | Clarity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light Spring | +0.40 | -1.00 | -0.50 |
| True Spring | +1.00 | -0.40 | +0.30 |
| Bright Spring | +0.40 | -0.20 | +1.00 |
| Light Summer | -0.40 | -1.00 | -0.50 |
| True Summer | -1.00 | -0.40 | -0.30 |
| Soft Summer | -0.30 | 0.00 | -1.00 |
| Soft Autumn | +0.30 | 0.00 | -1.00 |
| True Autumn | +1.00 | +0.40 | 0.00 |
| Deep Autumn | +0.40 | +1.00 | 0.00 |
| Deep Winter | -0.40 | +1.00 | 0.00 |
| True Winter | -1.00 | +0.40 | +0.30 |
| Bright Winter | -0.40 | +0.20 | +1.00 |
Worked example: warm, medium and soft
Someone answers "hard to tell" for veins, gold for metal, cream for fabric and "beige or olive" for skin; medium brown hair and medium coloring; low contrast and soft, smoky eyes. That is warmth (0 + 1 + 1 + 0) ÷ 4 = +0.50, depth 0.00 and clarity -1.00.
The nearest season point is Soft Autumn at (+0.30, 0.00, −1.00), only 0.20 away. Next come Soft Summer and Light Spring. Soft Summer shares the soft, medium position but is cool; the self-check cannot be sure about a mildly warm undertone, which is exactly why it lists neighbours. Tap "Fill in the worked example" above to see it.
What does each season family look like?
Springs are warm and fairly light or clear: peach, coral, golden yellow, turquoise. Summers are cool and soft: powder blue, lavender, dusty rose, slate. Autumns are warm and muted or rich: olive, rust, mustard, teal. Winters are cool with high contrast: true red, royal blue, emerald, black and white. The second word narrows it down: Light and Deep follow your depth, Bright and Soft your clarity, True sits at the purest warm or cool point. Every season's swatches, neutrals and colors to avoid are on the 12 seasons palette page.
Why might a quiz get my season wrong?
People judge their own coloring under indoor light, with a tan, dyed hair or makeup, and remember their veins and jewelry from different days. Contrast is the hardest of the three to judge in a mirror. A photo-based reading avoids some of that: TrueColors samples the actual skin, hair and eye regions of a selfie, warns when the light was warm or cool, says how sure it is and names a runner-up. A draping test, holding colors from two seasons against your face, remains the best way to settle a close call; the app does that on your photo, and the photo try-on guide shows how to compare hair, lip and blush shades on one photo.

Questions people ask
How do I know what color season I am?
Find three things: your undertone (warm or cool), your depth (light or deep) and your contrast or clarity (soft or clear). The season is the combination: for example warm, medium and soft is Soft Autumn. This self-check estimates the three from your answers; TrueColors measures them from a daylight selfie.
How accurate is a color season quiz?
Less accurate than looking at colors against your face. Vein color and jewelry preferences are rough cues, and people often misjudge their own contrast. Use the result as a starting family of seasons, then compare the palettes against your face in daylight.
What are the 12 color seasons?
Light, True and Bright Spring; Light, True and Soft Summer; Soft, True and Deep Autumn; Deep, True and Bright Winter. Springs and Autumns are warm, Summers and Winters cool, and the first word says which quality dominates.
Can my season change?
Your undertone usually stays the same, but hair color, tanning and age change depth and contrast, which can move you to a neighbouring season. That is why the app gives a runner-up season and why a re-check after a big hair change makes sense.
Does the TrueColors app use this quiz?
No. The app reads skin, hair and eye colors from the real regions of one selfie and computes undertone, depth and clarity from them. This page uses the same seasonal wheel to place your answers, so the two speak the same language.
